5/12: Save Minnesota's Ecological Jewels!
The Minnesota legislature wants to eliminate funding for projects to acquire, restore, and engage citizens around Scientific and Natural Area (SNAs). These ecological "crown jewels" are among Minnesota’s most precious natural resources. They contain rare plants and animals, along with imperiled habitat of exceptional scientific and educational value. According to the MN Department of Natural Resources, the appropriations under attack are by far the largest and most important source of funding for Minnesota’s Scientific and Natural Areas Program.
For more information, check out this description of the legislation from the Minnesota Environmental Partnership.
Tell Governor Dayton: Scientific and Natural Areas preserve the crown jewels of Minnesota’s landscape for our children and grandchildren. Please insist that the legislature restore the LCCMR recommended funding for programs to support these areas.
